With the arrival of the heat, it is habitual that, in terraces and gardens, refuge below awnings and sunshades is taken, these last always being more economic. To have them lasting from a year to another, we need to know how to keep them in good condition. In this article we offer some keys to preserve them in good condition, and thus to be able to enjoy them without setbacks.
In the first place, it is advisable to dust the sunshades periodically with the vacuum cleaner. This will prevent us from having to clean them frequently. It is also important to protect the canvases in the periods in which we do not use this piece. For this it is very advisable to dismantle and store it.
On the other hand, if it is fixed in the garden, we will cover it with opaque plastics. In the case of collapsible sunshades, it is possible to wash them in hot water with detergent. Add vinegar to the rinsing water - to prevent them from being discoloured -, or bleach in the case of canvas or white sailcloth – rinsing it very well, as the sun would destroy the weavings if remainders of these substances were left. We can also clean the parasols with foam for fabrics and tapestries, following the directions.
