In response to high demand for its digital SLRs, Nikon has hired new workers and is increasing production of lenses and cameras at its Thailand factory, according to a report published on Cnet.
The site reported on an interview with a Merril Lynch analyst who said that the factory's population has increased to 15,000, up 6,000 workers compared to last year.
The factory builds entry-level DSLRs, the D80, D40, and D40x (shown), as well as Nikon lenses. Nikon has said its goal is a 40 percent SLR market share by next year.
