Nikon stops producing analog cameras E-mail

Similar measures had already been adopted by Kodak, that dominated the market of photographic spools and now is focusing on the digital image.  In a communiqué, Nikon affirms that in the last seven years, in which has been dedicated to the production of digital and analog cameras, in digital business at present occupies the 95% of the business only in the United Kingdom.

The impulse of the digital image has been felt in the results of the group, that in the first part of last year saw an increase of 20% in its net results and almost a 10% of increase in sales.

 Good-bye to the spool

Nikon has seen how its market in spool cameras has diminished to the point in which has determined to leave it almost completely.  The group will stop manufacturing almost all the lenses for cameras and photographic enlargers and will continue selling them until they have finished the present stock.

F6 y F10 are saved

Only two are saved from the burn, one of which one is the one that has been for a long time the flagship of the firm, the model one F6.  Nikon says that is a matter of a commitment with the professional photographers.  Also another mythical model, the F10, will continue being manufactured and distributed out of Europe.

For both models they will continue manufacturing the following lenses:  Nikkor 20mm f/2.8, Nikkor 24mm f/2.8, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4, Nikkor 50mm f/1.2, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, Microcomputer Nikkor 55mm f/2.8, Microcomputer Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, 85mm Microcomputer Nikkor PC f/2.8.
